Our Story
Growing up, my marks were below average. By Year 9, I was struggling in nearly every subject, especially maths. I was honestly terrible.
Concerned, my parents enrolled me in a large tutoring centre with a classroom-style setup. I still remember picking up my learning packet, sitting down, and opening the first page… I could hardly answer a single question. I almost cried as I watched my cousins and friends finish early and leave.
Before long, I begged my parents to try something else. That’s when they brought in a private tutor, and everything changed.
I’d never met someone so patient and understanding. For the first time, learning clicked.
Fast forward a few years, I graduated with an ATAR in the top 7% of the state and went on to study Engineering at the University of Sydney.
Those “aha” moments and the connection I had with that tutor stayed with me. It sparked a passion for education, and it’s why I started Next Step Academy.
Today, we help students across NSW experience the same transformation: not just improving marks, but changing their attitude toward learning.
